JURY STATEMENT: SYDNEY AUSTRALIA SEPTEMBER 19, 2008

It was a real pleasure and honor viewing nearly 70 works from many countries selected as finalists for flEXiff 2008.  The winners in three categories were as follows;

Best Feature Film Award, the jury selected Même Pére Même Mére because of filmmakers' social and political commitment to this project and a sincere depiction of issues facing Africa today. 

Best Short Film Award, the jury selected A Sunday in Pripyat for the creation of sound and moving images as separate entities but merging in the audience's peripheries to recognize the relation.  The runner up for this category Orgesticulanismus is the most innovative form utilized to tell a mainstream content.   

Special flEXiff Award, the jury selected Frontier for experimenting with form and content equally to realize a personal view on  the eternal story of life and death.  The runner up in this category Red-light District Graffiti is an impressive new work that deserves global recognition for dissolving the border between form and content.  The jury would like to take this opportunity to thank the festival organizers, filmmakers who were part of flEXiff 2008 and congratulate the winners.
